Praying for the Waterfield Family and Their Community
We praise God for Mrs. Waterfield and her family who have funded the construction of HWHL’s Waterfield Medical Center including the recently opened Surgical and Maternity Additions. As we release this quarterly newsletter we have just learned of the wildfires that have burned more than 1,900 square miles in the Texas Panhandle where the Waterfields reside. Mrs. Waterfield’s daughter reports, “The fire burned right up to our house and also the cabin but the Lord protected them and they did not burn. It did burn all of the ranch land but we haven’t gotten cattle in yet so we are so thankful for that. And our horses survived. We are praising the Lord for His mercy on us but are truly saddened because many others weren’t as fortunate. It’s been a very difficult and sad day. But as far as I know there has been no loss of life. God is good!” We ask that you, our faithful donors, lift up the Waterfields and their neighbors in your prayers. NBC News has been providing updates on the fire which continues to burn.
Highlighting Community Health Workers
This quarter we highlight the work of our Community Healthy Workers who reach out to the residents of 61 towns and villages around the Waterfield Medical Center. Their work is varied starting with providing ongoing education to villagers covering basic hygiene and healthcare.
Many lives are saved through the CHW’s distribution of Albendazole tablets from The Worm Project to combat soil-transmitted parasites (parasitic worms). They also complete blood pressure checks and provide education and prenatal vitamins from Vitamin Angels to pregnant women in the villages.
Beyond the healthcare activities, books are distributed to school children along with clothing and diapers from Barrels of Love. Mabel Sulonteh, Community Health Workers’ Supervisor shares, “Our aim and objective [is] to tell people about Christ and their relationship with Him as an individual. We [are] able to encourage parents to take care of their children. Our expectations are to see our people changing [lives] so we make it our duty to visit those towns and villages in and out of Kakata.”

Testimonials from HWHL Patients
Each quarter we will include a testimonial from one our HWHL patients so you can see first hand how lives are impacted by Dr. Chris Hena and her team. Let’s celebrate the incredible work of healthcare providers like the Waterfield Medical Center team, who prioritize dignity and love in every patient interaction. Scholarships for HWHL Staff
At Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia we work to provide continuing education for our staff members. We currently have two staff members, Mary and Kerbeh enrolled in Cuttington University Junior College in Kakata. We’ve recently established a scholarship fund to assist additional members of our staff selected by Dr. Hena.
If you would like to contribute, please send your check to HWHL, PO Box 816, Waxahachie, TX 75168 and write “scholarships” on the memo line.
Our plan is to continue to send out these newsletters on a quarterly basis so we don’t overwhelm your inboxes with emails! For updates between newsletters, please visit our web site and Facebook page.
We treasure your partnership in this mission. Your donations to this ministry are greatly appreciated. We’d love to hear from you anytime with your comments or questions.
